Shoupapp

Product shadows

Product shadow generator: realistic shadows, added in bulk

A product on plain white looks pasted on; a soft shadow puts it back on the ground. Pick a shadow style once and every photo in the batch gets the same one, in the same run as the background removal.

Shadows are what make a product on white look photographed rather than edited. Shoupapp adds them in the same run that removes the background, so there is no second tool and no second export: pick a shadow style and every product in the batch comes back with it, scaled to its own height so small and large products look consistent next to each other.

Four styles cover almost every catalog. Contact is a tight shadow right under the product — the clean look most marketplaces prefer. Soft is wider and gentler, for lifestyle-style listings. Floating lifts the product slightly off the ground for a light, modern page. Studio casts the shadow a little to the side, the way a studio light would. If none of them fits, set your own offset, softness and strength.

Because the shadow is drawn from the product’s own outline, it follows the real shape — a shoe, a bottle, a bag — instead of a generic oval pasted underneath.

Which shadow for which listing?

  • Marketplace main images: Contact, on pure white. It grounds the product without adding anything that could count as a prop.
  • Your own store: Soft or Studio give category pages a more crafted, editorial feel.
  • Campaigns and social media: Floating makes a product feel light and new — useful for launches.
  • Mixed catalogs: choose one style per category and keep it, so the grid stays calm.

How it works

  1. Upload the photos

Cut out or not: the background can be removed in the same run.

  2. Pick a shadow style

Contact, Soft, Floating or Studio — or your own settings.

  3. Export

On white or any background color, at the size each channel needs.

Who it’s for

E-commerce brands

A category page that looks like one shoot

Every product sits on the same kind of shadow, so your grid looks photographed in one session even when it was not.

Agencies & studios

A client’s house style, every time

Save the shadow as part of the client’s preset and it is applied to every new product without anyone having to remember it.

Freelance designers

Retouching without the hours

Shadows used to be the slow part of clipping work. Add them to a whole batch in the same step as the background removal.

Frequently asked questions

Does the shadow cost extra?

No. It runs together with the background removal, and the whole run costs one credit per photo.

Can I add a shadow to a photo that already has a white background?

Yes. Switch on background removal in the same run: the product is cut out so the shadow can follow its shape, then placed back on the background you choose.

Will it look right on very different product sizes?

Yes. Each shadow is scaled to the product’s own height, so a ring and a sofa both get a proportionate one.

Can I use the same shadows in a design?

Yes. The photo editor has the same shadow styles for one-off banners and posts.

Can different products get different shadows?

Yes. Save a preset for each style and run each group of products with the one that suits it — or let an automation choose by condition.

Send us five photos.

We will run them the way we would run your whole catalog and send back exactly what came out — before you decide anything.
