Auto Align

Align product photos in bulk, with the same margins on every image

Auto Align finds the product in each photo, scales it and places it inside the same safe area. Set your margins once and a whole catalog lines up in the grid: up to 1,500 photos per run, with nothing to drag into place.

A category page looks uneven long before anyone can say why. One supplier shoots close, another leaves half the frame empty, a third puts the product a little to the left. Each photo is fine alone; side by side, the row jumps. To align product photos by hand you open every file, scale it, nudge it and check it against a guide. That is the slowest part of preparing a catalog, and it comes back with every new delivery.

Auto Align does that step for the whole batch. You draw the safe area once: the space inside your canvas where a product is allowed to sit, set as a left, right, top and bottom margin in pixels. For every photo, Shoupapp finds the outline of the product, scales it until it fills that space without crossing a margin, and places it there. A small ring and a tall boot end up filling the frame the same way, with the same space around them.

One rule each for wide, tall and square products

A sneaker and a floor lamp should not share one set of margins. Auto Align keeps three: one for products that are wider than they are tall, one for tall products and one for roughly square ones. Each photo is measured and gets the rule that matches its shape, so a mixed catalog stays balanced without sorting the files first. A pair of shoes, or any set photographed together, is measured as one product and stays together.

Products cut by the edge of the photo stay on that edge

Some photos are cropped on purpose: a model cut at the waist, a sofa that runs out of the frame. Centering those leaves a hard cut edge floating in white space. Auto Align notices which side the product is cut on and keeps it against that side of the new image, so a cropped photo still looks intended. How much of an edge has to be touched before a photo counts as cropped is one setting you can raise or lower.

When a channel dictates the numbers

Some marketplaces and brand guidelines publish exact margins. Switch to fixed margins, type the four values, and every product is fitted to exactly that box. Save it in a preset per channel and the same shoot can be exported for your own store, a marketplace and a wholesale catalog, each with its own framing.

Auto Align is part of the same run as background removal, so one photo still costs one credit with the shadow, the resize and the export format included. Put the run on a schedule and new photos are aligned as they arrive.

Tips for a tidy grid

  • Decide the grid first. Look at how many products sit in a row on your category page, then set margins that leave the same breathing room around each one.
  • Leave more room below than above if you add a shadow, so it is never clipped at the bottom of the image.
  • Test on your most awkward products. Run the longest, the smallest and a cropped photo before you send the full catalog.
  • Keep one preset per channel instead of changing the numbers back and forth.

How it works

  1. Upload the catalog

Any mix of sizes, suppliers and framings. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC.

  2. Set the safe area once

Type four margins and watch the guides move on a preview, for wide, tall and square products. Settings, not prompts.

  3. Every photo comes back aligned

Same scale, same margins, same place in the frame. Download the batch or save the preset and let it run.

Who it’s for

E-commerce brands

A category page that lines up

Photos from different suppliers and seasons sit in the same place with the same space around them, so the grid reads as one collection.

Agencies & studios

Each client’s framing, saved

Keep every client’s margins and canvas in a preset. A new shoot is delivered to their guideline without anyone measuring a pixel.

Freelance designers

The slowest step, gone

Scaling and nudging hundreds of cut-outs is the work nobody wants to pay for. Run it in bulk and bill for the result.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to position each photo myself?

No. You set the margins once and every photo in the batch is scaled and placed by the same rule. Nothing is dragged by hand.

What if my products have very different shapes?

Wide, tall and square products each have their own margins, and every photo gets the rule that fits its shape.

What happens to a product that is cut off by the edge of the photo?

It is kept against the edge it was cut on instead of being centered, so the cut does not end up floating in the middle of the image.

Can I match a marketplace’s image guideline?

Yes. Set the canvas to the size the marketplace asks for and the margins to the space it wants around the product, then save that as a preset.

Does Auto Align cost extra?

No. It runs together with background removal, and the whole run costs one credit per photo.

Does it work on photos that already have a white background?

Yes. The product is cut out, aligned and placed back on the background you choose, in the same run.

Will next season’s photos match this season’s?

Yes. The margins are saved with your settings and presets, so a later batch is aligned by exactly the same rule.

Send us five photos.

We will run them the way we would run your whole catalog and send back exactly what came out — before you decide anything.
